As you cleanse and detoxify your body, either through a detox diet or the use of herbs, you leave your addictions behind. Toxicity in the environment, as well as many addictions, such as those to caffeine, sugar, alcohol and tobacco create toxicity that affects us mentally and physically. Mentally we can feel tired, confused and loss of motivation and excitement for life. Physically we can feel fatigue and bloating, or experience headaches or aching joints. Any of these signs might indicate that we need a good clear-out. Herbs that cleanse and detoxify your body:

1. Dandelion

The common dandelion is a good tonic and a cleanser. You can eat the leaves as salad, as they are rich in vitamins, potassium and iron. When the environment is polluted and we consume unhealthy food, it puts out liver under stress. In this case we can feel headaches, constipation or fatigue. The dandelion revitalizes, restores and protect the liver, which is one of the main organs that assist with cleansing. Dandelion leaves are especially one of nature’s best diuretics. They strengthen the kidneys, clearing water retention and promotes urination, and thus soothe irritations in the urinary system.


2. Marigold (Calendula)

Marigold is a mild remedy that has many actions. It clears fever and toxicity, fights infections and fungal growths, and strengthen the immune system. It’s a good remedy for women, as it promotes menstruation and relieves period pains. It should not be used during pregnancy as it stimulated contractions and the delivery of the placenta.

3. Elder

Elder flowers can be made into a tea, which is a great remedy for colds, especially if you combine it with peppermint and yarrow. This will stimulate sweating and the release of toxins, and will help to relieve the infection. They are great decongestant and relieve fluid retention.


4. Cleavers

Infused cleavers is used to cleanse the blood and strengthen the liver, and as such, it revitalized the whole system and encourages circulation. Due to its cleansing action, it is used to treat skin conditions, especially dry types of psoriasis. It is also excellent tonic for the lymphatic system, treats swollen glands, tonsillitis and adenoid problems. It considers to be safe for children who suffer from swollen glands that can occur after chronic colds or ear infections.


5. Golden seal

This herb has anti-bacterial properties that make it a useful remedy to fight infections. The golden powder is useful for tonifying the mucous membranes in the body. It clears mucus from the body and dries up its production. It’s a good herb to treat chest infections, coughs and colds. It’s also a great tonic to balance the digestive system. Make a diluted infusion and gargle for sore throat or mouth ulcers. This herb should not be used during pregnancy or if you suffer from high blood pressure.

6. Echinacea

This herb fights both bacterial and viral infections. It is helpful to clear infections especially in the ear, nose and throat. Take some tincture at the beginning of a cold to cool the fever and clear sore throat. It’s also a blood cleansed, used both internally and externally to clear up skin infections, eczema and promote tissue repair. This herb is considered safe to use for both children and adults. 7. Red clover

This herb is a blood cleanser and detoxifier, which is suitable to use for all types of rashes and eczema. It cleanses heavy metals and chemical toxicity, including those caused by the use of drugs. This herb is considered to be safe to use for both children and adults.

    Fantastic layout. I am not sure I would like to try the dandelion as I know it tastes so bitter.

    D marigold (calendula) in a soap form gave me instant relief from d onslaught of poison ivy.One shower n d itching was gone. Contrastly ,my Cuz after being in contact with poison ivy,itched for more than three weeks.She was using,over the counter,anti itching lotions r cremes.Thinks for d post.
