Natural Ways to Increase Progesterone Levels

There are no foods that naturally contain progesterone, however, there are certain foods that have a positive impact on progesterone levels in the body.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C can help to increase progesterone levels if you have a progesterone deficiency. Vitamin C is an important antioxidant which helps to boost your immune system and help fight off infections. Vitamin C also stimulates collagen production which is essential for the healthy formation of skin tissue and for preventing sagging crepey skin.

A study published in the American Journal of Research Communication found a positive link between vitamin C supplementation and increased levels of progesterone. The researchers found that vitamin C helped to increase endometrial thickness and increase progesterone concentration. You can help boost your progesterone levels by incorporating into your diet more foods that contain vitamin C. Some of the best natural sources of vitamin C are citrus fruits, red bell peppers, kale, broccoli, kiwi fruit, berries and papaya.

According to the National Institute of Health an average adult needs between 8 and 11 mg of zinc each day. Most of the time, we get enough zinc in our diets. Most meat, seafood, and beans are rich sources of zinc.7 Pumpkin seeds are also a great source of zinc and they are readily available and easy to eat.

L-arginine

L-arginine is an amino acid which is essential for healthy blood vessels and helps to keep your cardiovascular system in good shape. The Journal of Ovarian Research found that supplementing your diet with L-arginine helps to increase levels of progesterone. The researchers reported that 70% of participants benefited from L-arginine because their progesterone levels increased between monthly cycles. Menstrual blood flow was improved in everyone that took L-arginine.3

According to doctors at WebMD, natural sources of L-arginine are red meat, poultry, seafood, and dairy products.8 Eggs are another source of L-arginine and they are one food that can help boost your sex drive.

Natural progesterone cream

Women who lost about 10% of their body weight found that ovulation returned and their levels of progesterone were increased.
