How to Make 6 Natural Homemade Body Lotions

natural body lotions

Homemade skin care products are a fantastic way to nourish your skin, and the good thing about them is that you know what they contain, and avoid using harmful ingredients that many commercial products contain. Another advantage is that it’s more cost effective, and these body lotion recipes are easy to make and contain only 3 or 4 ingredients. These body lotions are suitable for all skin types and contain natural ingredients only.

Some of the recipes contain base cream. In these recipes you can use CeraVe or VaniCream, or any other basic cream or lotion with no added ingredients and no perfume. When you prepare the body lotions and mix in the other ingredients, the cream should be at a room temperature.

Thanks for posting this information. How long is the shelf life fof these homemadd items?

    • Jenny says:

It depends on the ingredients of the lotion. If it has flowers or leaves in it – it should be refrigerated and should be kept no longer than a week. Homemade lotion that has natural preservatives like coconut oil or vitamin E oil and doesn’t contain flowers/leaves – in a sterilized container it should have a shelf life of approximately 6 months. It will also depend on which essential oils are used, because some oils may develop a rancid smell more quickly than others. Always look for mold growth or funny smell and make smaller quantities.
